Do not take fluconazole capsules if you:
Before taking fluconazole capsules, tell your doctor if you have a history of liver disease, asthma, or diabetes, or if you are taking any other medicines. Fluconazole capsules may affect the way other medicines work, and you may need to take fluconazole capsules with a doctor's visit or longer-term use.
The main active ingredient in the fluconazole is Diflucan. Fluconazole is used for the treatment of fungal infections of the skin and urinary tract, such as cryptococcosis, acute pyelonephritis, acute bacterial vaginosis, as well as for the treatment of Candida infection of the vaginal, anal, and oral mucosa. It is also used for the treatment of fungal vaginitis and cryptococcal meningitis, which is caused by Candida.
The medication is usually taken orally at the start of a vaginal or anal infection. For the treatment of cryptococcosis, the medication should be taken 1-3 hours before the vaginal infection and at least 6 hours after the vaginal infection. Fluconazole is not recommended for use in patients with a known hypersensitivity to fluconazole. Fluconazole is not effective against fungal infections of the skin or urinary tract.
